ADOPTION Note to Out of State Adopters: We are more than happy to adopt to out-of-staters. However, please know that you are expected to drive to the foster home to pick up your new family member. We cannot ship or arrange transportation! Please note that filling out an application "DOES NOT" guarantee you a specific dog. If you're interested in a particular dog that is on our website, we'll keep that in mind. However, we strive to match the perfect dog to the perfect family. Our foster parents have a very good "feel" for the Golden's personality. We try to match that to the personality of the family. Again, your application "DOES NOT" put a hold on a specific dog. "NOTE" Your application will not be processed until the application fee is received. 1. Once an APPLICATION and the non-refundable $25.00 application fee are received (which can be paid through paypal - just click on the "paypal" button underneath) the application process begins. 2. We do a vet check, reference checks and arrange for a home visit. Pending favorable responses, the application is approved. 3. Once your application is approved the applicant/family is then matched up with a dog. This process could take a couple of days or several weeks depending on the requirements of the family and/or the available dogs. Then, the dog is united with new family, the adoption fee is collected and an adoption day form is completed. The adoption application is a contract that outlines the requirements of the new family and the conditions for keeping the Golden Retriever. We will tell you as much as we know about the health and personality of the dog before you take them home with you. Following an adoption, there may be follow-up visits that are performed to ensure everyone, including the Golden, is happy with the placement! |
